Twenty one new energy efficient homes featuring windows and doors clad in the revolutionary modified Accoya® wood have been completed.
Eildon Housing Association chose Accoya® for the new homes at Tweedbank, Melrose, after spotting the product's aesthetic and durable qualities.
More than 11,000 linear metres of Accoya® -- finished with a quality Sikkens coating by Environmental Coatings -- was supplied to the project in the Borders by Arnold Lavers.
Two of the homes feature heat pumps to test their ability to be used as an alternative energy source to mains gas. The homes also include energy-efficient features such as higher levels of insulation and sunspaces which increase natural light and warmth.
